Biography: On television Mitch Rouse most recently appeared in the Comedy Central cult hit series, Strangers With Candy, which he also created and wrote with Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert. He also starred as Andy in the ABC comedy series The Secret Lives of Men.

Rouse was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and raised in Oak Ridge. He later attended the University of Tennessee and soon developed an interest in acting. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to study acting and, later, improvisation -- in Chicago with Del Close. It was there that he first became involved with Second City.

While in Chicago he met Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. After performing in a number of Second City productions, Rouse moved to New York with the two. Together they put together the play "Stiches," which they performed at New York's LaMama Theatre.

During the mid '90s, Rouse teamed up with Sedaris and Dinello to develop a half-hour sketch comedy series for HBO/Downtown Productions entitled Exit 57, which ran for two seasons and received five CableAce nominations. Other television credits include guest appearances on Home Improvement and Spin City, and co-starring roles in several made-for-television movies, including "In The Company of Darkness," with Helen Hunt, and "In The Shadow of A Killer."

His feature film work includes "Austin Powers 2," "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," "Rudy" and the independent films "Sweethearts" and "The Ad Man." He has also written, directed and starred in the independent film "McClintock's Peach."

Most recently Rouse sold his screenplay "Employee of the Month" to Lions Gate. He co-wrote, is attached to direct and will co-star in the upcoming film. (Courtesy Touchstone, 2002)
