January 28th, 2003--Nominations for the 9th Annual Screen Actors Guild
Awards for outstanding performances in 2002 in five film and eight primetime
television categories were announced today in Los Angeles at the Skirball
Cultural Center's Magnin Auditorium.
Screen Actors Guild President Melissa Gilbert introduced Megan Mullally
("Will and Grace") and Michael Clarke Duncan ("Daredevil") who announced
the nominees for this year's Actors.
The Screen Actors Guild will honor its own at its 9th Annual Awards
ceremonies on Sunday, March 9, 2003 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition
Center, televised nationally on TNT (Turner Network Television) at 8
p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. MT.
Of the top industry accolades presented to performers, only the Screen
Actors Guild Awards are selected purely by actors' peers. Two randomly
selected panels totaling 4200 SAG members from across the United States
chose this year's Actor nominees. The secret ballots were mailed January
3, 2003 and returned by the deadline of January 24, 2003 to Integrity
Voting Systems, the Awards' official teller.
Awards ballots will be mailed on February 11, 2003 to the entire active
membership of the Guild. Approximately 98,000 members throughout the
country will vote on all acting categories. Ballots must be returned
to Integrity Voting Systems by Friday, March 7, 2003, where results
will be tallied and sealed until they are opened by the presenters at
the 9th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremonies on March 9, 2003.
The Screen Actors Guild Post-Awards Gala, benefiting the Screen Actors
Guild Foundation, will be hosted for the seventh consecutive year by
PEOPLE Magazine and by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).
The Mirage Hotel & Casino joins PEOPLE and EIF for the first time as
a co-presenting sponsor. BALANCE Bar is a co-sponsor of the Gala for
the third consecutive year.
