The problem
with PBS is that sometimes there's just too many good things to
watch during sweeps. If you love documentaries, the network is a
treasure trove of possibilities, and sometimes an important one
gets lost in the rush. That's the danger for the wonderful America
1900, which airs in a month that's already brought us Africans
In America, P.O.V's Family Name, and an extended look
at Frank Lloyd Wright. And with all due respect, America 1900
is a name that doesn't exactly bring chills to the spine of potential
viewers. So there's a good chance that a lot of people will just
let this pass them by.
And that would
be a shame.

looks at one year in our nation's history, and it's a
