Wednesday, July 16th, 2008--Jennifer Coolidge, who has delighted fans
with her pitch-perfect comic timing in such movies as American Pie, Best
in Show and Legally Blonde, has been cast to guest star in an upcoming
episode of TNT's hit series "The Closer."
In the episode entitled "Dial M for Provenza," Coolidge plays Angie Serabian,
a none-too-bright woman married to the rich owner of a car dealership
who winds up ensnared in an undercover sting operation. "Dial M for Provenza"
not only provides a great showcase for Coolidge but also for veteran actor
G.W. Bailey as Lt. Provenza, whose unfortunate luck once again edges him
towards the cusp of forced retirement.
Coolidge started her career doing improvisational comedy in New York and
with Los Angeles' famed Groundlings troupe. She made her television debut
in 1993 as a voluptuous masseuse in a memorable episode of "Seinfeld.'
She has also made appearances on such TV series as "Nip/Tuck,' 'Friends,"
"Sex and the City," "Frasier" and "According
to Jim."
Her long list of film credits includes "For Your Consideration,"
"A Mighty Wind," "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate
Events," "The Broken Hearts Club," "Zoolander,"
"Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," "A Night at the
Roxbury" and "Trial and Error."
"The Closer," which stars Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick,
is ad-supported cable's #1 series of all time. The "Dial M for Provenza"
episode featuring Coolidge is set to air Monday, Aug. 11.
