I suspect that some networks feel as if they're damned if they do nd damned
if they don't when it comes to new programming for the summer. If they
take the fiscally responsible route and focus on cheap reality programming,
then they're beaten like a pinata by the TV critics. But if they roll
out new scripted shows, they're often ignored by critics and audiences
alike.
I hope that's not the fate of "Flashpoint,' a solid new drama that
comes from CBS and Canada's CTV. It's not a flashy show, or one that rolls
out any big names in its cast. But it's a well-done police drama, and
one that deserves to last past its mid-summer timeslot.
